Lead Pastor
Troy Gacayan
Pastor Troy was born and raised in Pahala, Hawaii. Upon graduating from high school, he immediately joined the military and enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Alaska, Arizona, and Louisiana. In 1994, while serving on an overseas tour and seeking the Lord, he encountered Jesus Christ and began to sense a call of God to the ministry. He returned to the States where he was stationed in Shreveport, Louisiana, and he began to prepare himself for that call by attending an Urban Bible Training School and Global University.
Over the span of 8 years, from 1995-2002, he served in several ministry capacities as a single’s group leader on the military base and a prayer night facilitator. He also served as a children’s Sunday school teacher, adult Sunday school teacher and an Assistant Pastor at Victory Life Center in Bossier City, Louisiana. It is here in Louisiana where he also met the love of his life, his wife Heather.
In 2002, after serving 13 faithful years in the Air Force, Troy felt led of the Lord to leave his military career to pursue the call of God on his life and returned to his hometown of Pahala, Hawaii. Troy is a credentialed ordained minister with the Assemblies of God of Hawaii. He served in Pahala as an assistant pastor for several years before being installed as the Senior Pastor of River of Life Assembly of God in January 2009 where he and his wife Heather, son Joah and daughter Aliyah continues to serve a loving and passionate congregation.
